In this project we designed a dynamic where a group of friends/classmates/work colleagues, would invest their time for understanding and sharing with their fellow mates, but within a specific topic:our cultural heritage.
Why we believe it can be an act of decolonisation? Because we encourage people to value their origins, value the experiences of being from a non-dominant culture. We used the “Heritage Cycle” as a theoretical reference, created by Simon Thurley, an Historian and Heritage Expert.
He believes the past needs to be use for shaping a better future. We could translate it the practice of understanding what you culture stands for and consuming more local media. In our speculative world, non-dominant communities would start sharing between then, instead of only accepting the media of dominant cultures. People would start to question: Why am I constantly consuming US media, and not exploring new genres within Asia, South America, Africa, Middle East?
